THE paramilitary grouping known as the ‘IRA’ has said a united Ireland can only be achieved through the use of armed force.

The uncompromising Easter message came hours after it emerged that another republican group, Óglaigh na hÉireann, may be about to end its own campaign.

The 'IRA', which is sometimes referred to as the ‘New IRA’, has been responsible for several attacks on the PSNI, prison officers and British military personnel in recent years.

In its statement, the group rejected constitutional nationalism and said it had no intention of ending its armed campaign.

“It will and must continue until we achieve true liberation. This war is to the end," it said.
