Martin McGuinness: Month's mind to be held next week

THE month's mind Mass for former deputy first minister Martin McGuinness will take place next week.

The Mass will be celebrated at St Columba's Church, Long Tower in Derry at 7.30pm on Wednesday April 26.

Mr McGuinness's brother Declan posted the details on Twitter yesterday.

The former Sinn Féin politician's headstone was unveiled during an Easter Rising commemoration at Derry City Cemetery on Easter Sunday.

The inscription records his role as an IRA 'volunteer' as well as a Stormont minister, an MP and assembly member.

Members of Mr McGuinness's family attended Sunday's commemoration.

The headstone was unveiled by Sinn Féin deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald along with MLAs Raymond McCartney and Elisha McCallion, who replaced Mr McGuinness as a Foyle representative at Stormont.
