A PENSIONER has been robbed at knifepoint during an aggravated burglary in Co Antrim.

The woman, aged in her 60s, was threatened by another female brandishing a knife who called to her door at Pound Street in Larne at around 11pm on Thursday.

Although the victim tried to shut the door on the woman, she pushed her way in and demanded money.

After forcing the pensioner to hand over cash, the woman made off on foot towards Meetinghouse Street.

The victim was uninjured but was left shaken.

Police said the woman believed to be responsible for the attack was wearing jeans, a blue top and a baseball cap.

Alliance East Antrim MLA Stewart Dickson said: "This was a disgusting and vicious incident, made all the worse by the use of a weapon. My thoughts are with the woman who was subjected to this traumatic ordeal. People in Larne will be shocked by this burglary, which was incredibly disturbing."
