A man, believed to be in his fifties, has been shot in a paramilitary-style shooting in Derry.

The attack happened in the Glenowen Park area of the city, close to the Creggan Estate, on Wednesday evening.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

The attack came just days after a 23-year-old man was shot in the leg in a bookmaker's shop on Central Drive in Creggan.

Two masked men came into the shop and shot the young man.
