BURGLARS tried to target a priest's house in Co Tyrone while he was saying Mass in his nearby church.

The incident happened at the parochial house at St Theresa's Church at Melmount Road in Sion Mills on Saturday.

Fr Peter McLaughlin was saying Vigil Mass in the church as attempts were made to enter the house at about 6.30pm, causing damage to a window.

In a Facebook post, police urged people to remain vigilant following the attempted burglary.

"We would ask that everyone remains vigilant and report any suspicious persons or vehicles to Police and remember to record number plates and descriptions if possible," they said.
