THE father of Northern Ireland football manager Michael O’Neill was given first aid yesterday after he collapsed at a train station.

A Translink worker gave Des O'Neill CPR after he fell ill at Central Station in Belfast yesterday morning.

Mr O'Neill, from Ballymena, Co Antrim, was later taken to hospital.

According to reports Michael O'Neill (47) was at his father's bedside yesterday.

A Translink spokesman told Belfast Live: "We can confirm that a man waiting in the passenger seating area of Central Station became ill this morning at around 11am.

"Quick thinking staff went to his assistance and performed CPR until an ambulance arrived."
