HUNDREDS of Carl Frampton fans have queued for several hours in Belfast to meet their boxing idol.

The Belfast boxer signed autographs and had pictures taken with fans at a special event at JD Sports in the Victoria Square shopping complex on Monday night.

Several hundred people waited to meet Frampton, including baby Brianna Hogg who showed off her pink knitted gloves.

Frampton returned home to Belfast after he lost the first fight of his professional career late last month.

Mexican boxer Leo Santa Cruz regained the WBA featherweight title with a majority verdict win over Frampton in Las Vegas.

Frampton, from Tigers Bay in north Belfast, now wants the pair to meet for a third time in a fight in his home city.

The boxer tweeted on Monday night: "Great turn out of people at JD Sports Victoria Square. Thanks for all who showed up".
