'Explosive device' caused Irvinestown security alert

A MAN has been treated in hospital for shock after an explosion in a Co Fermanagh village which police believe was caused by a bomb.

A vehicle was damaged in the incident which happened in Sallys Wood in Irvinestown overnight.

Police said a "loud bang" was reported at around 00.30am today.

"Officers attended the scene and were made aware of damage to a vehicle which is thought at this time to have been caused by an explosive device."

Police said the security alert is over and "nothing further was found".

"The vehicle has been taken away for further examination".

The man who received hospital treatment is thought to have been near the car when the device exploded.
