CUAN Mhuire rehabilitation centre in Newry is hosting a special gameshow night to raise money for vital support services.

'The Qube Gameshow', loosely based on ITV programme The Cube, will be held on February 4 at the Canal Court in the city at 8pm.

Widely know as Sr Consilio's, after the Kerry-born nun who founded the centre in 1966, the Cuan Mhuire facility provides residential addiction support services to people and their families.

The charity has several centres across Ireland, caring for a total of around 3,000 residents a year.

Katie Bennett, from Cuan Mhuire's fundraising team, said the charity "is partly funded by national agencies, however our centres are constantly full and have a waiting list but resources are always inadequate to meet the crushing level of need".

"All donations go directly to our frontline services, support of our residents, and their families," she said.
