Portuguese man died in M1 crash at Tamnamore

THE man who died in an accident on the M1 motorway last week has been named by police as Paulo Roberto Maia- Lopes.

The 36-year-old was from Portugal and had been living in Dungannon.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident which happened on Friday December 23 at Tamnamore in Co Tyrone.

The crash took place at around 12.35pm on the citybound stretch between junctions 12 and 13. Mr Maria-Lopes was driving a grey Honda Civic.

To date 68 people have lost their lives on the north's roads.

The most recent death was that of the driver of a Seat Ibiza car who died in an accident on the M2 shortly after 8.30pm on St Stephen's Day.

The accident happened between Sandyknowes and Templepatrick and several cars were involved.
