RALLIES calling for the resignation of First Minister Arlene Foster are to be held in Belfast and Derry on Friday.

The protests have been organised by People Before Profit, which has two MLAs in the assembly - West Belfast's Gerry Carroll and Foyle's Eamonn McCann.

Mrs Foster has come under increasing pressure to explain her role in the disastrous £400 million 'cash for ash' scandal.

Mr McCann said Mrs Foster had so far only offered "bluff and bluster".

"Foster should go without further ado," he said.

"Her own party won't push her out. Sinn Féin will do nothing to disrupt the Coalition. It's up to the rest of us.

"We will be out in Belfast and Derry city centres at half five on Friday, calling on the people to make it clear they have had enough of this shameless, insulting nonsense.

"Our message will be: Foster must go!"
