Woman threatened with knife by robber at off-licence in south Belfast

DETECTIVES are investigating an early morning armed robbery at an off-licence in south Belfast.

The incident occured on Saturday morning on the Upper Lisburn Road in Finaghy.

Police said that it was reported to them that a man entered the store at around 8.10am and threatened a female member of staff with a knife and demanded money.

A small sum of cash was handed over before the man made off on foot.

He was described as being aged in his twenties, was around 5’5” tall, of heavy build and was wearing a red hat and a red hooded top.

The member of staff was not harmed but was left badly shaken following the incident.

Detective Sergeant Michael Hawthorne said: I would appeal to anyone who saw a male matching this description in the Finaghy area... or who has any information which could assist us with our enquiries to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 300 26/11/16 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Meanwhile, police are investigating an armed robbery at a shop in Co Derry.

Detectives are appealing for information about the incident at premises on the Drumsurn Road in Drumsurn on Friday morning.

Two men, one armed with a knife and both wearing balaclavas, entered the shop at around 11.15am and demanded money from a female member of staff. 

A sum of money was handed over and the two men then left the shop and got into a blue Peugeot car displaying no number plates and left the area. 

Both men were said to be aged in their early twenties and wore dark clothing. The member of staff was not injured
