Person dead following house fire in Cookstown

A person is understood to have died following a house fire in Cookstown.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service confirmed fire appliances were dispatched to a property at Lissan Road in the Co Tyrone town following an emergency call made just before 10am this morning.

A NI Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “Two appliances from Cookstown and Dungannon Stations attended but no firefighting action was taken.

“There were signs of a fire within the property which had burnt itself out before the arrival of the emergency services.”

A PSNI spokesman confirmed officers were at the scene, but no further details were available.
