A fifth man arrested by police investigating extreme right-wing activity has been released pending a report to prosecutors.

The 26-year-old was detained in Ballymena on November 1 by detectives from the PSNI’s serious crime branch and was also quizzed over suspicious activity in a forest.

Four other men, aged 29, 30, 36 and 46 were arrested last week in Ballymena and Coleraine as part of the same investigation, with reports also sent to the Public Prosecution Service.

Police have said the investigation is looking at “extreme right-wing views about tensions in north-eastern Europe.”
