IT was a car-free zone across most of the city on Sunday as Ciclovia Belfast got under way.

Following the successful pilot of Ciclovia Belfast 2015, Ciclovia Belfast 2016 took place from 9.30am to noon.

The ‘cycle freeway’ allow cyclists from across Belfast and beyond, of all ages and abilities, to cycle a traffic free route between Botanic Gardens to Belfast City Hall.

Ciclovia, which means cycle freeway in Spanish, is a worldwide cycling phenomenon, and it turned large parts of the city into a traffic free cycling experience for several hours.

Hundreds took part in the event clad in Halloween wear and also took part in the various free events and activities which were held throughout the morning.
