Firefighters tackle blaze at Royal Victoria Hospital

THE Fire Service was called to the scene of a blaze at Belfast's Royal Victoria hospital last night after reports of bin being set alight.

Four fire engines and more than 20 firefighters arrived on the scene at around 8pm. No one was injured and the fire was extinguished shortly before 10pm.

Damage was sustained to the outside of the building and a fire service spokesperson said the fire was started deliberately outside Queen's School of Dentistry.

A spokeswoman for the Belfast Trust praised the quick reactions of hospital staff and the work of the Fire and Rescue Service.

It was not necessary to evacuate any patients at the hospital.
