HIT Belfast-set drama The Fall will return to television screens on September 29, it has been announced.

Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson are reprising their roles in a third series of the BBC Two show.

The Fall follows Anderson's Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson, from London’s Metropolitan Police, who is called in to assist the PSNI investigate a string of murders in Belfast.

Fans were left on the edge of their seat at the end of series two as Paul Spector, played by Holywood-born Dornan, lay bleeding in the arms of Gibson after being finally caught for his serial killings.

In the emotionally charged aftermath of the shooting, Gibson’s personal journey to exact justice for the victims' families must begin with the blood-soaked fight to keep Spector alive.

Dornan is also currently starring as a Czech resistance fighter in Second World War film Anthropoid.

Speaking last week, the father-of-two said he enjoys having a full workload.

"I love it, I want to be busy but I'm a young father so I want them to come everywhere with me, which we can do before they start school," he said.

He also insisted his star-making turn in Fifty Shades Of Grey was "just another job".

The 34-year-old found international fame as mogul Christian Grey in the big-screen adaptation of the raunchy novel and will star in the two sequels.

The Fall returns on BBC Two on September 29 at 9pm.
