A MAN from Derry has appeared in court in Scotland charged with a murder in Glasgow 22 years ago.

Philip Morrison (40) is alleged to have strangled and robbed 24-year-old Derek Sheerin on waste ground near London Road in the east end of the city in September 1994.

He is accused of struggling with Mr Sheerin, strangling him with a belt and his hands, murdering him and robbing him of a watch, tobacco and £20 in cash.

Mr Morrison pleaded not guilty at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday.
