Hillsborough: Woman killed in crash on A1 road between Belfast and Dublin
A woman has died in a crash between a car and coach on the main road between Belfast and Dublin.
The collision near Hillsborough, Co Down, has closed a section of the A1 in both directions, causing major traffic disruption.
The woman who died was aged in her sixties, police said.
The crash happened hours after a motorcyclist was killed in a separate crash elsewhere in Co Down.
The 50-year-old died when the bike he was riding hit a roundabout in Comber Road, Newtownards at about 11.40pm on Thursday.
PSNI Inspector Claire McBride said: "It is not thought that any other vehicles were involved in the collision."
Following the coach and car crash, the A1 was closed in both directions between the Hillsborough Road roundabout and the junction at the Ballygowan Road/Dromore Road.
A PSNI spokesman said: "Diversions are in place though motorists are advised to expect delays in the area for a number of hours."
