Police are investigating a shooting incident in Belleek, Co Fermanagh.

Three gunmen wearing balaclavas arrived at a hotel in Main Street this morning and fired a shot into the van of a contractor working there.

?Detective Inspector Trevor Stevenson said: “It is now believed that four armed and masked men arrived at a hotel on Main Street shortly before 9.30am and threatened staff. They fired one shot into the van of a contractor working there before making off. There was no one in the van at the time and no one sustained any injuries during the incident. The men are all described as wearing dark coloured overalls with white stripes and balaclavas.



“The men made off in a black coloured Ford Escort car in the direction of the border. A car matching the description was discovered on fire a short time later in the Derrynacross Road area of Garrison where it is believed that the 4 males then left in a second unknown vehicle. Local officers are continuing to work closely with An Garda Siochana to trace their movements.
