Three people arrested following death of man in Newtownards

A NEWTOWNARDS man who died as a result of injuries sustained in an incident in the Co Down town was 45-year-old Dessie Mee.

Three people have been arrested following his death last night and police have appealed for help in establishing Mr Mee's last movements.

Mr Mee was from Blenheim Drive in the town and was found outside Millers House apartment block in Regent Street shortly before 7.50pm.

Superintendent Kevin Geddes said he had been in an apartment "immediately beforehand".

“We are appealing for information about Mr Mee’s movements last night and in the last few days. We are also appealing for information about activity in and around apartment number 25 at Millers House last night between 6pm and 8.30pm.

Two men, aged 35 and 42, and a 29-year-old woman were arrested. Police have now been granted an additional 36 hours to question the three suspects. 

A postmortem is due to be carried out to detemine the cause of death.
