A FATHER-of-one in his twenties has died and another man been injured in a car crash in Co Tyrone.

The victim, named locally as Donal Kildea from Strabane, was killed when the car in which he was travelling hit a bridge outside Donemana yesterday morning.

The crash, involving a silver Peugeot, happened on Longland Road at about 7.20am.

The second man, also believed to be in his twenties, was travelling in the same car.

He was taken to hospital for treatment although police said his injuries were not thought to be life threatening.

Police said a blue Transit van was also travelling on the road at the same time. No-one in the van was injured.

The Longland Road was closed between Cumber Road and Ballyarton Road for several hours following the crash.

Police appealed for information.

Mr Kildea was father to a young daughter.
