POLICE are investigating an alleged breach of a Parades Commission determination by Orangemen during Sunday’s Drumcree parade in Co Armagh.

Marchers were banned from walking down the nationalist Garvaghy Road in Portadown and ordered to be clear of the area by 2.30pm.

However, in an act of defiance members remained at police lines for around 10 minutes past the deadline.

The PSNI confirmed on Monday night that it is investigating the alleged breach.

Superintendent David Moore said: “As is normal procedure, a report has been forwarded to the Parades Commission.

“Enquiries are now underway and we are working to establish whether the commission’s determination was breached.”
