A GOAT, nine dogs and three ferrets were rescued from a cannabis farm in east Belfast.

The neglected animals, which police said were in poor health, were found at a house on Old Holywood Road yesterday.

Police also seized cannabis plants worth around £15,000.

Constable Gemma Gregg said the animals were assessed by a vet and were transferred to a sanctuary.

"We are delighted to have been able to shut down this cannabis factory and prevent these drugs from being sold in our communities," she said.

"We are also very pleased to have helped the animals and to ensure they now receive the care they need."

Police appealed for information.
