THE Morelli family have paid tribute to the man behind hundreds of their ice cream flavours.

Guido Morelli, who died on Monday aged 81, worked in the business throughout his life and was responsible for developing new recipes for its Coleraine factory.

His favourite flavour was mint chocolate chip.

The company has won numerous prizes at the UK National Ice Cream Awards and sells its products at shops across Ireland.

Mr Morelli's daughter Daniela said: “Dad was a much-loved and loving husband, father, nonno (grandfather), bis nonno (great-grandfather) and friend to all who knew him.

"He always had a smile on his face and brought so much joy to everyone at the company and our incredible customers.

"We will miss him but our wonderful memories will keep him alive in our hearts.”

Mr Morelli, who lived in Portrush, will be buried after funeral Mass at St Patrick's Church in the town on Thursday.
