Rory McIlroy dons George Best T-shirt to cheer on men in green

Rory McIlroy wore a George Best t-shirt at the Northern Ireland match in Paris

RORY McIlroy donned a t-shirt bearing an image of football legend George Best as he cheered on Northern Ireland in Paris on Tuesday.

The Holywood golfer posted a photograph on Twitter as he was about to board a private jet to the French capital to watch the clash with world champions Germany.

The world number three put last week's missed cut at the US Open behind him as he lent his support to Michael O'Neill's men.

McIlroy and his pals were later seen in the stands of the Parc des Princes, sitting a couple of rows behind Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.

The four-time major winner is a keen Northern Ireland fan and is often seen at Windsor Park in Belfast during visits home.

Earlier this month he delivered a galvanising address to the squad before their Euro 2016 opener against Poland.
