Euro 2016: Arlene Foster urges employers to let workers leave early for Northern Ireland v Germany game

FIRST Minister Arlene Foster has appealed to employers to let people "go a little bit earlier" this afternoon to watch Northern Ireland's crunch Euro 2016 clash with Germany.

Northern Ireland stand on the brink of a place in the knockout stages of the tournament, and a win or draw against football's world champions in Paris will see the side's progression assured.

However, with the match starting at 5pm, fans face missing part of the game - unless their bosses decide to be generous.

Speaking on Q Radio's Breakfast show, Mrs Foster said: "We have been trying to drive up productivity in Northern Ireland - so it's a big ask. But I thing we can make an exception for today.

"I would just appeal to the good will of the employers of Northern Ireland to think about their workforce tonight and let them go a little bit earlier."
