A 30-year-old man was arrested this morning by detectives investigating the murder of Eugene Carr (73) in August 2015.

The disabled pensioner died almost three months after he was viciously assaulted in his bed during a violent robbery.

Mr Carr was left badly injured after he was stabbed with a hook during the attack at his home in Bessbrook, Co Armagh on August 31 2015.

The pensioner spent 11 weeks in hospital being treated for multiple injuries before dying as a result of his injuries on November 17.

Two house searches have also been carried out in the Newry and Rathfriland areas.

The man has been taken to Musgrave Police Station for questioning.
