FIVE people have escaped injury in a shooting in the Poleglass area of west Belfast.

Just after 11pm on Thursday shots were fired at the front door of a house on Colinbrook Avenue in Dunmurry.

Three men and two women were in the house at the time of the attack but were not injured. A motive for the shooting is not yet known.

Police appealed for information.

Sinn Féin councillor Stephen Magennis condemned those responsible.

Mr Magennis said the shooting was "reckless and could have resulted in injury or loss of life".

"There is no place for weapons on our streets and those who bring guns onto the streets are irresponsible and should stop these dangerous attacks immediately," he said.

"Anyone with information should give it to the police."
