A MAN has escaped an attempted murder bid following a shooting in Cookstown.

A shotgun was used to fire two shots through a living room window at the property in the Tullyveagh Road area early on Tuesday, police said.

A man aged 45 was in the house at the time but was uninjured.

Detective Constable Paula McGale appealed for anyone with information to contact the PSNI.

Sinn Fein Mid Ulster Assembly member Michelle O'Neill said: "The gun attack on a house in the Tullyveagh Road area of Cookstown was wrong and I condemn it.

"Thankfully no one was injured in this attack but those responsible showed absolutely no regard for the occupants of the house or those living nearby."
