A MAN in his 50s has died and five other people, including three children, have been taken to hospital following a three-car collision in Ballyclare.

Police say that the people treated in hospital - a man and a woman, two girls and a boy - are not believed to have life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened on the Collin Road around 7pm and involved three cars - a black VW Amarok, a silver Vauxhall Vectra and a red VW Golf.

Inspector Ken Atkinson has appealed for anyone travelling on the road around this time to come forward with information and to ring their Collision Investigation Unit on 101.

Fire crews and police attended the crash.

The road remains closed in both directions near its junction with Braepark Road following the collision.
