'Flat cap' man is suspect in assault on elderly woman

A WELL-dressed man in his 60s wearing a flat cap is being sought in connection with an assault and robbery on a elderly woman in her 90s in east Belfast.

Detectives investigating the robbery of  the woman at Aston Gardens in the Upper Newtownards Road area have issued an updated description of the male suspect.

The woman was struck on her hear with a stick by the man and had her handbag stolen as well around 4pm on Moday, April 25. She was taken to hospital later for treatment.      

The police described a well-dressed man, wearing a khaki or grey overcoat over a suit with a fawn or beige coloured flat cap.

The attacker was a white male, aged around 60-65 years old, of thin build with a full face, and 5’10-11” tall.

He is said to have walked with an ordinary gait and spoke with an average Belfast accent.
