HUMAN remains discovered in a field in Co Antrim yesterday are believed to be those of missing man Norman Galbraith.

The remains were found off the Bravallan Road outside Ballymoney.

A police spokesman said the body has not been formally identified although the death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.

Mr Galbraith (66), from Queen's Avenue in the town, went missing on July 31 last year.

He was last seen making his way to a nearby shop.

It is thought he injured his head several days before he went missing.

Despite extensive police searches he was never found.

Ulster Unionist councillor Darryl Wilson said he was shocked by yesterday's find.

"It's saddening that someone has been found in a field outside the town," he said.
