An 11-year-old girl and two boys aged 10 have been interviewed by police about an arson attack at a school in Derry.

The roof of Holy Child Primary School in the Creggan area was damaged in a blaze on Monday evening.

Fire crews were called to the school after materials were piled onto the roof and set alight.

Police investigating the attack said the three children "voluntarily attended Strand Road Police Station" in Derry yesterday.

A police spokesman said: "They were interviewed and subsequently released pending a report to the Youth Diversion Officer".
