A 24-YEAR-OLD man was charged yesterday with the attempted murder of two police officers after a stolen car drove at them in Derry last month.

The man was charged with 31 offences, including two counts of attempted murder. He is to appear before Derry Magistrates Court this morning.

The man was arrested after a stolen car crashed into another car during a police chase in Derry just before 12.30pm on February 5.

The grey Skoda Superb was taken in a creeper burglary in Lindenwood Park in the early hours of that morning.

The stolen car was later spotted by police shortly after midday.

When officers gave chase it crashed into another car at Caw roundabout close to the Foyle Bridge.

No-one was seriously hurt but police said two officers on foot were injured when they attempted to get out of the way as the stolen car drove at them.

A third officer was injured as he made the arrest.
