A PIPE bomb was found in the garden of a house in west Belfast yesterday.

Several homes were evacuated after the device was discovered at Dunmurry Lane shortly before 1.30pm.

The road was closed between The Green and Dunmurry Lane.

Police said the bomb was viable and it was later removed for further examination

Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann said the alert caused "massive disruption".

"Local residents are rightfully angry at this incident and the people behind these recent spate of attacks have done nothing but brought hardship to local communities and need to stop this activity immediately," she said.

Police appealed for information.
