CRAIGAVON Area Hospital has been closed due to a suspected gas leak, the Southern Trust has said.

Writing on Twitter, the Southern Trust asked members of the public to avoid the site.

Later the Southern Trust tweeted that there was no risk to patients and that the incident was "under control."

This is the latest incident to affect the hospital in recent months.

Last month the Southern Trust has apologised after a "distressing incident" where a a patient at Craigavon hospital was doused in sewage.

The incident was caused by a leaking pipe in the the ceiling above a bedroom in a hospital ward.

A man also died of swine flu at the hospital last month.
