Police have released photographs of bomb-making equipment found in a park in Co Antrim.

Items including circuit boards, partially-constructed timer power units and a small quantity of explosives were found in plastic barrels buried concealed in undergrowth.

The material was placed on display yesterday by the PSNI, showing component parts of a possible explosive device, with some parts partially constructed.

Police have said a member of the public made the discovery in Carnfunnock Country Park near Larne on Saturday.

However, they have not said which paramilitary group they believe own the bomb-making materials.

Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan said it was too early to speculate which group was responsible.

"At this point police are saying very little - we don't know how old this material is or how long it might have been hidden," he said.

"The place it was found would be fairly out of the way. It could be loyalist or republican given the location, at this point we just don't know."
