Thieves attempt to steal ATM from Portadown train station

Police are investigating an attempt by thieves to steal an ATM from Portadown train station

THIEVES have tried to steal a cash machine at a Co Armagh train station.

Police were called to Woodhouse Street in Portadown following reports a window at the station had been smashed at around 3am today.

Officers found there were straps around an ATM and the thieves had tied the machine to a vehicle in an attempt to drag it away.

Translink said in a statement that CCTV was in operation at the time.

Police have appealed for anyone who noticed suspicious activity to contact them.
