Woman in 'serious' condition after Co Antrim crash

A WOMAN is in hospital in a "serious condition" following an early morning accident on the main Lisnevenagh Road between Ballymena and Antrim.

The two-vehicle collision happened around 9.30am on Thursday when heavy fog was reported in the the area.

Police said the road was closed following a "serious" two-vehicle crash close to the Woodgreen Road junction and advised motorists to seek an alternative route .

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service sent a rapid response paramedic and accident emergency crew to the scene after receiving a call around 9.40am.

The woman was taken to Antrim Area Hospital where she is being treated for "serious" injuries.
