Masked men rob Carrickfergus newsagent at gunpoint

POLICE are hunting two masked men who robbed a Co Antrim newsagent at gunpoint.

The men, who were dressed in dark clothing, targeted the shop in the Scotch Quarter area of Carrickfergus at about 8.50pm on Saturday.

They fled on foot with an undisclosed sum of cash and tobacco towards Taylors Avenue. No one was injured.

Detective Constable Loreen Glenn said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area, or anyone who knows anything about this armed robbery, to contact detectives at Ballymena police station on the non emergency number 101."
