Death of former Donegal All Star Donal Monaghan

The funeral will take place today of former Ulster football great Donal Monaghan.

The 65-year-old died at Letterkenny University Hospital on Sunday.

One of Ulster’s first All Star winners, Mr Monaghan, from Donegal Town, was a member of the Donegal team which won two Ulster titles in the 1970s.

He played with Donegal from 1968 to 1978, alongside Brian McEniff and Martin Carney, and also represented Ulster. His son Barry is a former captain of the county side.

He will be buried following Requiem Mass at St Patrick’s Church in Donegal Town this morning.
