A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death by officers investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the A2 dual carriageway that claimed the life of a 75-year-old woman.

The accident happened on Monday between Bangor and Holywood on the stretch of road known as the Devil's Elbow.

The man is currently in custody helping police with their enquiries.

Great-grandmother Norma Diffley from Groomsport died following the collision between a blue Suzuki Jimny and a blue Volkswagon Tiguan at around 2.10pm close Carney Hill. 



Senior investigating officer, Inspector Collins, has appealed for anyone who was travelling in the area and who witnessed the collision or who has any information to contact the Collision Investigation Unit in Sprucefield on 101.
