CHRISTINE Bleakley has married her long-term partner, footballer Frank Lampard, at an intimate ceremony in London.

The couple wed at St Paul's Church in Knightsbridge, London, in front of family and friends and then headed to a reception at London's exclusive venue The Arts Club.

Ms Bleakley, who is from Newtownards, has been in a relationship with the former England star since 2009 anad the couple became engaged since 2011.

The footballer shed a tear during his wedding, according to friend Piers Morgan.

The Good Morning Britain host Morgan described the "stylish" wedding to his breakfast co-host Susanna Reid.

"It was a very emotional night for Frank, (he was) very tearful in his speech, very moving."

He recalled how he had been present the night the couple met at the Pride of Britain Awards.

He said he told Lampard that Bleakley was "way above your league, mate", but he was proven wrong as the pair ended up falling in love.

Morgan also revealed that invites had only been sent out to guests about 10 days ago.

He told Reid: "It was a lovely tasteful stylish wedding. No-one got invited until about 10 days ago, so out of the blue we all go invited, so it was lovely, about 140/150 people - a few Chelsea players like John Terry and Didier Drogba there, but actually it was a lot of their families."

Frank Lampard has played for Chelsea, Manchester City and West Ham and this summer swapped the Premier League for Major League Soccer at New York City FC.

The couple were joined by friends from the world of entertainment and sport, including Ms Bleakley's This Morning co-presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, plus the groom's former team-mates Petr Cech and cousin Jamie Redknapp.

The bride, who hosted BBC's The One Show before switching to ITV, wore a bespoke gown by designer Suzanne Neville.

Their nupitals have long being speculated over and there have been a number of "false alarms" about possible venues.

In June this year, speculation was rife that they were to marry at Castle Leslie in Co Monaghan.

The luxury hotel declined to comment after Monaghan garda confirmed that the hotel would be closed to the public.

Lampard, a former Chelsea and Manchester City player, now plays for New York City.

In an interview in April 2015, Ms Bleakley said she and Lampard were on wedding "standby".

"We know exactly what we want to do so that's half the battle," she said.

"We don't know when Frank is heading off, so we're on standby a little bit."

Ms Bleakley, a former BBC Northern Ireland presenter who shot to fame as co-host of BBC's The One Show, recently presented six-part ITV documentary series Wild Ireland.

The series saw her driving, climbing, walking and swimming her way along the 1,500 mile Wild Atlantic Way along the west coast of Ireland.
