POLICE OFFICERS in Lisburn and Castlereagh have clubbed together to buy a replacement bike for a boy, after his was stolen.

Writing on Facebook, the PSNI said that the mother of Adee, who has Asperger's Syndrome, contacted police after the boys bike was stolen from their apartment block.

"Last night police told Adee's mum Kirsty bring him to Dundonald Station for a chat. Officers at Lisburn and Castlereagh heard about the incident and put their hands in their pockets to buy him another bike as they didn't want to see him do without one this Christmas," the PSNI said.

"Adee sat patiently with his mum and dad in the station and one of our officers told him to close his eyes. The officer produced the bike and Adee looked delighted and immediately whizzed around the station."

Police are still investigating what happened to Adee's first bike and ask that anyone with information contact them by calling 101.
