A 39-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in connection with offences committed at the Derry wake and funeral last summer of veteran Derry republican Peggy O’Hara, mother of INLA hunger striker Patsy O’Hara.

Detectives from Serious Crime Branch arrested the man in the Claudy area this morning.

The suspect has been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Musgrave Police Station for questioning. Several people have been arrested and questioned in connection with the investigation in recent weeks.

Shots were fired over 84-year-old Mrs O'Hara's coffin as it was returned to her home in Derry while dozens of men and women wearing military-style uniforms, black berets and sunglasses, and concealing their faces with khaki-coloured scarves, accompanied her coffin to the cemetery on July 18.

Mrs O'Hara's son was the seventh hunger striker to die in the prison protest in 1981.
