A Polish man has appeared in court accused of kidnapping and poisoning two other Eastern Europeans.
Mieczyslaw Krepacki, 26, from Chapel Hill Mews in Lisburn, Co Antrim, faced a string of charges including unlawfully causing poison to be taken, possession of a Taser and false imprisonment.
Remanding him into custody, District Judge Mervyn Bates told Craigavon Magistrates' Court that the case was "very serious".
The offences involving the two other men are alleged to have been carried out over three dates in November in the Lisburn area.
Krepacki is further accused of possessing a baton, carrying his alleged victims away by fraud or force and assault.
A PSNI detective constable told the court he believed he could connect the accused to the incidents.
Speaking through an interpreter, Krepacki confirmed that he understood the charges.
He said: "Yes, I do understand."
Blonde haired Krepacki stood in the dock dressed in a light grey tracksuit with his hands clasped. He appeared relaxed throughout the brief hearing.
Defence solicitor Joe Magee told the court he would not be making an application for bail at this stage.
District Judge Mervyn Bates remanded the defendant into custody.
The judge said: "You are remanded to appear via video link at Lisburn on December 7."
The case has been adjourned.
