FANS of the American rock band performing at the terror-hit concert venue in Paris have launched a campaign to get them to number one.

Eagles Of Death Metal were playing at the Bataclan on Friday when attackers killed almost 90 people.

The group, which performed in Dublin just last week and were booked for the Paris gig by their Co Antrim-born agent, were unhurt in the tragedy.

But Nick Alexander (36) from Essex, who worked as a merchandiser during their European tour, was among those killed.

A Facebook page called Eagles of Death Metal For No 1 quickly attracted thousands of supporters.

It urged fans to download the band's version of the Duran Duran song Save A Prayer - described as "the perfect tune for us all right now" - to show solidarity against terrorism and support for peace.

The band's booking agent Steve Strange from Carrickfergus has also described his devastation at the tragic events in Paris.

"The band are all ok, but I'm devastated that one person I know has been killed," he told the Sunday Life.

"It's just such a senseless attack.

"This band and their crew are the most beautiful bunch of people you could ever meet and this was the most terrifying experience that they've been through.

"I'm absolutely distraught at what has happened. It's hard to see such mass destruction happening at a rock 'n' roll concert where people were enjoying themselves."
