PROMINENT republican Declan McGlinchey has died suddenly at his home in Co Derry, aged 39.

The father-of-seven, who was the son of former INLA leader Dominic McGlinchey, died from a suspected heart attack late on Sunday night.

It is understood he suffered chest pains at his Bellaghy home and was treated by paramedics, but died at the scene.

His father Dominic McGlinchey was a high-profile member of INLA who was gunned down as he used a telephone box in Drogheda in 1994.

His mother Mary was also shot dead in 1987 as she bathed her young sons Declan and his brother Dominic in their Dundalk home.

No-one has ever been charged with either death.
