A 62-year-old man has died in hospital following a road traffic collision in Antrim.

The collision, between a car and a lorry, happened on the Lisnevenagh Road at around 8pm on Tuesday.

The man who died was the driver of the car.

A man and woman who were travelling in the lorry suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The road remains closed.

SDLP councillor Roisin Lynch said: "There’s a real sense of sadness in Antrim as people wake up to this tragic news".

"It’s absolutely imperative that we do all we can to reduce the number of deaths on our roads and the tragedy that is visited upon families in the wake of these accidents. My thoughts and prayers are with the man’s family and close friends at this very difficult time".
